Climate Solutions Programme

This course is imbued with the optimism that comes from tackling an issue, and focuses on solutions. It is aimed at time-poor managers, offering an easy, time-efficient route to understanding climate change.

Four online modules will short-cut vast amounts of literature and learning, providing a good basic understanding of the science, and focusing on the minimum essential information needed to respond. On completion of the online modules, participants will attend a workshop, delivered by the project partners.

After this workshop, participants will be invited to join a cross-sectoral network to allow long-term relationship building and sharing of expertise. They will also receive a certificate evidencing their personal and organisational commitment to climate change.

Course Details

The qualification is aimed at time-poor managers, offering an easy, time efficient route to understanding climate change and its relevance to their organisation (and personal life). Critically, it will explain a range of solutions, and the associated opportunities and challenges, so participants can consider how to respond appropriately.  Four online modules will short-cut vast amounts of literature and learning, providing a good basic understanding of, and confidence in, the science, and focusing on the minimum essential information needed to respond.  On completion of the online modules, participants will attend a workshop, delivered by the universities and partners.

Course Structure

The course consists of four online modules and a workshop. The modules cover different aspects such as a call to action, climate science, policy and legislation and climate solutions. Each module takes 2 – 3 hours to complete and through out the modules there are sections designed to help you apply it to your own organisation and quizzes to test your knowledge.

At the workshop you’ll start developing the Climate Action Plan for your organisation. There will also be the opportunity to discuss any sector specific issues or delve deeper into some of the topics. If your organisation already has a Climate Action Plan or if you’re doing this course as an individual we can discuss alternative plans.

The workshop is currently being run as two half day sessions on Zoom due to Covid 19. The next workshops are on 12 & 19 October 2020.

Creating your own Climate Solutions Plan workshop (currently 2 half day online sessions) After completing  the four online modules you’ll attend the workshop & start developing a Climate Solutions plan for your organisation or area.

Personal Accreditation

On qualification, individuals will be invited to join a cross-sectoral network which allows long-term relationship building and sharing of expertise.  They will receive a certificate evidencing their personal and organisational commitment to climate change.  It’s intended that the course can be run as a component of existing training programmes.
